The story of how you’ve come to be where you are, thinking about where to get some help to move forward, is unique to you and important. I will listen deeply before together we work out a solution-focused plan to help you. Just taking that first step of seeking help is courageous, and may have taken time to get to. It may not be easy to ask for help but virtually everyone experiences the need for some help and support when going through tough times. I offer no judgement on how you came to be where you are, the main thing is to say there is every hope you can get past whatever you are experiencing and can take back control of your life.

I use the Human Givens approach to psychotherapy and counselling. It is a practical, holistic and evidence-based scientific framework focusing on what individuals need to live mentally healthy and fulfilling lives. The issues I work with include; anxiety, depression, sleep problems, feelings of overwhelm, panic attacks, grief, menopause, lack of motivation, focus or purpose, phobias, trauma, chronic pain and more. You are not your problem, the problem is!

Our sessions will be collaborative, working towards easy goals that you set, that help move you forward with every session and in as few sessions as possible. Mental health challenges may cause a person to focus on the negative and what went wrong in the past but we will not go “digging” in the past unless it is directly relevant to where you are right now. We work towards positive, healthy change, so you can feel yourself again and feel in control of your life. Together we will figure out what essential emotional needs might be missing, or what resources are being unintentionally misused in your life. This way we’ll discover the best strategies to help you feel better that draws on your own inner resources and abilities. You’ll learn easy tools that can help you more hopeful right now and for any future challenge.

Whilst no therapy can guarantee a complete cure or prevent future recurrence for any mental health condition, the right support can help you to overcome present challenges and feel more confidence in your abilities to overcome future challenges so you can thrive and enjoy your life.
